Battery Banks

This submarine has 2 x 24v battery banks consisting of 12 x 2.2v Gel Pack Batteries per bank. Gel pack batteries are used because normal acid batteries emit toxic vapour when discharging, The submarine primarily runs off 1 bank of batteries and the second bank is purely in reserve as an emergency backup. These batteries can be charged via a battery charger before launching and can also recharge whilst the submarine is running the diesel engine on the surface.
